Some students are happy to go to back to school while others put on a fake smile as they dread the new school year. Ten years ago Oak Hills High School had their very first Back to School Night. This was a brand new school with no gum stains on the sidewalk or under desks. Ten years worth of memories at this school had not yet happened. The Bulldog family has grown so much over time and is here to prove it with the 10th annual Back to School Night.

ASB students were selling the Ten Year Anniversary shirts at the event. They were $15 in the student store and are still currently on sale. Also, the Parent Center was selling some great snacks for students and parents to enjoy while they toured the school.

“Overall, it was a great turnout! There was a good crowd,” commented Mr. Story, Vice Principal of Discipline here at OHHS.

The tour started at 6 PM as the school ran the students usual bell schedule. Parents were able to walk a day in their child’s shoes as they went from class to class. This gave a chance for parents to meet teachers and have a better understanding of their classes. It was also a great opportunity for students to receive extra credit from some of the teachers who were offering it.

There was even a great performance from the school band at Back to School Night. Cheerleaders were positioned all around the school to greet people and help anyone who was lost or needed questions answered. The Chief of Police and many school Board Members also made an appearance at the event. Plenty of parents came with their high school students, lower or upper class, and enjoyed their time.

OHHS thanks all parents and students for attending and showing support for their school. Also, thanks to Mr. Capps and the rest of the staff who took the time out of their day to welcome everyone into their classes. We hope everyone has a great rest of the year, as well as more years to come as part of the Bulldog family. Let’s go bulldogs!

As a parent, I was happy to visit the welcoming campus. All the teachers were very nice. Now I understand why students end up in tardy sweep, I would have been there too that day.
