Billie Eillish is shown here doing her famous, "straight faced" pose. This pose has become a viral pose that people now have made a challenge to try doing it.

Billie Eilish, born “Billie Eilish Pirate Baird O’Connell” was born on December 18, 2001, in Los Angeles, California. Growing up, she lived with her mother and father, Maggie Baird and Patrick O’Connell, (who were both actors and musicians) and her older brother Finneas. While being born into a family of musicians, Billie began singing at a very young age and joined choir at the age of eight. She began singing and writing her own songs when she was about eleven years old and eventually started performing with Finneas. At the age of thirteen, Billie sang her brother’s song from his band called “Ocean eyes” and released it online. This song blew up very fast and was known on various social media and music platforms. She decided to then make a music video to it at the age of fourteen. After this, Billie and her brother began writing more and more songs which became hits after hits.

Although these were big accomplishments, this was only the beginning for Billie. She later wrote another song with her brother titled “Bored” and it soon was featured on the Netflix series, 13 Reasons Why. Being that she was only 15 at the time, this shows us that Billie is already becoming a star, what stops her from being an upcoming legend? Beyond this, on August 11, 2017, Billie dropped her album called Don’t smile at me, which was produced by her brother. This album had songs like, “Bellyache”, “Ocean Eyes”, “My boy”, “Hostage”, “COPYCAT”, and “&burn” which all blew up overnight. At this point, Billie had over a billion plays and her fan base was spreading. Billie Eilish and her music were growing at a faster pace than many musical legends today were back in their day.

As shown, Billie’s song “Bad Guy”, has made it No.1 on Billboard Hot 100. Even months after being released, it remained No.1 on the list.

About three years later, (now) Billie released her famous album When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? Songs on this album went to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 even months after it was released. Billie was then named the firstborn artist in the 21st century to be at the top of the Billboard 200 and even people who we call legends today do not top that. Although Billie is very inspired by musical legends, they even claim that they are inspired by her! Rock legend, Dave Grohl, has even given Billie his “approval of being a legend.” Beyond this, this proves that if Billie Eilish is only a teenager while receiving all of this love and achieving so many musical accomplishments, what can stop her now?

Billie Eilish will continue to thrive and grow, and I am sure her music will only get better. Billie Eilish has a wide range of listeners including a sophomore here at Oak Hills High School, Aaliyah Wright.

Aaliyah says, “Billie Eilish is one of my favorite artists and has been for so long. With everything that she is achieving now, I am almost sure that she is in an upcoming singing legend”.
