Cheer, led by coach Elana Dinkins, is a huge part of Oak Hills High School and its cheerleaders are always working hard. They currently cheer for basketball and football and the team contains the most positive, influential girls who are friends to everyone. Take it from senior Cassidy Gillis, who is a superstar at all she does.

Cassidy has been cheering and dancing since she was only 7 years old. She is now the varsity song leader, and others on her team would say that she is great at leading her team and keeping them on track.

OHHS sophomore, Samantha Carrillo explains, “Cassidy is a fun, light-hearted girl, and she always knows how to put a smile on someone’s face.”

Cassidy is not only an awesome dancer, but she is also an awesome friend to everyone she meets. During her interview, she expressed how she loves that cheer makes her a more positive person and it always gives her new opportunities to make new friends.

Cheer is a huge part of Cassidy’s life, but so is her family, she is an inspiring sister to her younger brother, Jason Gillis who currently plays on the Sultana High School football team. She is constantly supporting him at every single one of his football games. Cassidy loves to support her brother, no matter what when it comes to his hobbies. She always speaks very highly of her family, and she loves them unconditionally. She is an incredible sister as well as a role model for Jason.

Another huge part of Cassidy’s life is dance, she has been dancing since the age of seven, and she competes in dance competitions all around the

world. She works very hard at what she does, considering that she loves to dance and it is one of her favorite hobbies. She is very competitive and loves to win when it comes to her competitions. Cassidy says that she appreciates her little brother because he is at every dance competition supporting her.

Cassidy especially loves to cheer for OHHS. She loves being there for her teammates and cheering with them at every football game. She loves to support the teams and dance whenever possible. Cassidy loves that she can incorporate her dance life into supporting her school. Her key to being a cheerleader at OHHS is being able to understand how everyone feels and what they want.  Cassidy is just one example of the amazing cheerleaders at our school, and she helps to represent cheer positively.
